Description
The Alerion Express 28 is the quintiscential daysailer with gorgeous lines and a powerful yet easy to manage sailplan. "Escape" has been very lightly used by her original owner and is aggressively offered for sale. The exterior varnish has just been newly done. Offers are encouraged.
The Alerion 28 is the perfect daysailor, but it is certainly comfortable enough for an overnight. There is a spacious v-berth forward with a filler cushion.
There is a manual marine head with a bladder holding tank situated under the v-berth.
The main cabin has a settee to port with storage below and outboard. To starboard is a stainless steel sink with manual fresh water, a settee and a nav/chart station aft of that. The cooler is secured on mounts at the base of the companionway.
Unlike many standard Alerion Express 28's, this boat is also equipped with custom teak shelving in the main cabin for additional storage.
The 1998 model year has the straight shaft transmission, but "Escape" has been upgraded with a folding prop. Other mechanican highlights are a Racor fuel filter, and a Guest dual battery switch. The efficient Yanmar engine has standard throttle controls and tachometer in the cockpit.
This boat is equipped with a Raytheon bi-data with speed and depth as well as a Plastimo cabin-house mounted compass. Below is a Ray Jefferson 5000m VHF radio.
All of the rigging on board is from Hall Spars including the Hoyt self-tacking jib boom and a Hall rigid Quickvang, an adjustable backstay and Harken traveler. The boat is also equipped with roller furling for the headsail and a spinnaker pole for the North gennaker with a Snuffer sock.
The hardware on board consists of two Lewmar 30 primary winches and dual Lewmar #7 cabin top winches. All lines are led aft to the cockpit via Spinlock halyard clutches.
She also has an electric bilge pump with a float switch in addition to a manual bilge pump in the cockpit.
Five (5) jack stands, swim ladder, PFD'S, anchor and rode and various other equipment accompany this inventory.
